2020 MVP and Disappointment Cards

So let's debate. Its all everyone does now a days anyway. I'm lisiting my MVPs of the entire 2020 campaign. This will include cards of all types and overalls.

A few things to note before I start. I only picked up 2020 in November (waited for the price drop before Thanksgiving) so I missed out on the beginning. A friend threw me a few 82-84 overall players to start and I built my team from there. Some cards may be missing from the beginning and I may have a different opinion on them.

Another point is that I did not get to try some players so don't fret if Auston Matthews and Conner McDavid aren't on there. I never had 1,000,000 coins to spend.

So lets start with the biggie.

2020 MVP
My 2020 MVP, my favorite was by far 66, the great Mario Lemieux. Guy was just big, quick and could score. He could hit and hard to take off the puck. He was the all in one package. I imagine this is what having a 99 Auston Matthews is like.
Runner up: 99 Wayne Gretzky.

MVP of Non 99 overall Cards: Giving it to Teemu Selanne, never felt upgrading his 97 to 99 would achieve much since he was already amazing.

MVP of Cards I did not have: 99 Chris Pronger. Never before have I seen so much hype over 1 card, between message boards and recommendations from friends. Since I could neve snag his silver icon when it was available (and did 4 sets of the 88 icons without luck), I wish I could say more, but huge guy who could hit and score was what the overall consesus was.

Best Dman - Pronger

Best Dman I had - 99 Alex Pietroangelo. He was my road to 99 pick and having played with Kessel, Kuzy, Gigure and Kopitar, he still was my favorite.

Best free card giveway from squad battles - I'm going with 87 Willie O'Ree, great, fast sniper card and was tradable unlike future players given away at squad battles.

Shoutout to the 90 and under cards - these cards helped build my monster team today, wouldn't be there without them, and thought they played well above their value.
90 Primetime F Kappo Kakko
85 Winter National F Antoine Russell
86 Primetime Steven Stamkos
85 Winter National D Dan Gilra
87 Trade Deadline D Shea Weber
Double shoutout to Dan Gilra who was 85 and played better than some 90+ dmen on my team.

My All Base Gold Team (84 overall and under)
F Jack Eichel
F Mikko Rantanen
F Kuzy
D Dustin Byfuglien
D Seth Jones
G John Gibson

Most overvalued card - Patrick Laine. Great card, but what he goes for on the market, unless you have an abundance of coin, you will get much better value for.

Biggest letdown card - 99 Andre Kopitar - for all the hype, I wasn't impressed. Felt Kessel was much beter. Not saying Kopitar is a bad card at all, I think he's great, but not elite like I felt he should be.

Worst Free Card - anyone who didn't choose Zibanejad for their Christmas Card, with worst being Rinne.

Anyway, that's it. If you would like to offer your opinion up, hit up our Facebook and post your take.
